Interview-tips

Who should attend:

Managers, supervisors or team leaders who are responsible for interviewing, selecting and hiring candidates for employment in their workplace.

Course Description:

An interview is a planned, focused conversation that provides an employer with information needed to evaluate a candidate’s ability and motivation to perform a job successfully.

There are several reasons why persons responsible for selecting job candidates should have good interviewing skills:

  1. Hiring is expensive.  You invest time in developing job descriptions, creating advertisements, checking resumes and applications, interviewing, checking references, processing payroll information, training and much more.  It’s best to get it right the first time.
  2. Good interviewing skills help keep the interview process fair for all candidates and protect your business from costly lawsuits.
  3. The interviewer needs to make a positive impression every time, because the candidate’s impression of the interviewer impacts their impression of your company and will determine their reaction to the interview process, even their decision to accept or decline your offer.
  4. Some candidates might be over-rehearsed while others may not know how to present themselves.  To effectively deal with both types of candidates and make an accurate analysis of their strengths and weaknesses, the interviewer must be well trained.
  5. Hiring and promoting employees must be strategic and aligned with an organization’s business needs.  Therefore, the interviewer’s skills play a major role in determining the organization’s success.
  6. Effective interviewing can reduce employee turnover and save money to your bottom line.
