What is the Ticket to Work Program?

A: Ticket to Work is a voluntary program for SSI and SSDI beneficiaries ages 18 to 64 who want to achieve self-sufficiency by reducing and eventually eliminating dependence on their monthly cash benefits. To participate, the beneficiary must make a commitment to working toward independence and must be willing to make a steady effort to achieving their employment goals.

By participating beneficiaries understand that they will work and earn adequate wages that will replace their monthly benefits checks and therefore lead to them eventually no longer receiving cash benefits.

What kinds of jobs can I get with ticket to work?

A: Ticket holders have many varied skills and backgrounds with experiences across all industries and at all levels within organizations. Therefore, the type of job you can get depends on your experience, your background and what you are interested in doing in this phase of your life.

Some people get back into the career they had before their disability. Others seek out new opportunities in other areas of interest. Still others pursue education and training to enter new career fields. There is no limit to what you can achieve as long as you are prepared to take the necessary steps for success.

The Work Incentives were put in place to help you explore work safely as you move toward self-sufficiency and independence.
